Company Profile:

Infinite Organisation

Infinite.org.za  was founded in 1995 and registered as a closed corporation in 2002 with zero capital no overdraft or loans. Business has been conducted on a cash only basis since it’s inception and continues to do so. Initially, an advisory service only was offered using Edgar Schien's "Process Consultation" approach where the client is assisted to find and implement the solution himself, maximising knowledge and skills transfer. The formal definition of Process Consultation states:

"Process Consultation is a set of activities on the part of the consultant that help the client to perceive, understand, and act upon the process events that occur in the clients environment in order to improve the situation as defined by the client" (Schein 1988a: 11).

It soon became quite clear that a major problem existed with the training of project managers as traditional methods were based on the transfer of knowledge only, but what was required was for skill to be transferred as well. This presented an opportunity to develop our first training course "Practical Project Management" which was authored by Dr Andre Van der Merwe (as were all the training courses that followed) which used procedure and simulation to teach competence. Practical Project Management proved to be very popular and our unique guarantee that students WILL be able to manage a project on completion of the training has resulted in more that 1300 students completing the course with only 3 delegates experiencing difficulty.

In 1998 Practical Project Management was audited by Ernest and Young for TRANSNET the South African transport authority, and found to be the "preferred approach to managing Y2K life critical projects".
